Jan Vertonghen, along with the aforementioned Hugo Lloris, is one of Tottenham Hotspur's two best players. The left-sided Belgian international centre back is world class on his day and, like Lloris, he deserves Champions League football. Unlike Lloris, his future is unclear and Spurs are reportedly in talks to get him to sign a new contract to ward off interest from the likes of Barcelona. He cost the club £12 million from Ajax in 2012 and his first season was highly impressive. Last season, however, he seemed to lack interest and his performances reflected that on occasions. Indeed, he made a couple of high profile mistakes that epitomised the fact he was off colour. If Spurs can keep him - and keep him happy - the club's fans will be pleased and they'd like to see him take to the field at West Ham at the start of a season in which they will absolutely need to qualify for the Champions League in order to keep players like him and Lloris happy.
