Spurs New Manager: 10 Replacements For Tim Sherwood
2. Mauricio Pochettino
The second of the three favourites to take charge at White Hart Lane is the current Southampton manager Mauricio Pochettino. The Argentinian former manager of Espanyol is earning a very good reputation for himself in England (despite the fact that he is yet to master the language to the level that he feels comfortable using it in interviews). Having taken over from Nigel Adkins in January 2013, he saw the season out with the club and earned them a 14th place finish. This season, he improved them massively, leading them to an impressive 8th place finish. Most prominently, he has overseen the rise of four players - Rickie Lambert, Jay Rodriguez, Adam Lallana and Luke Shaw - in to the England set-up. There have been rumours linking Pochettino with White Hart Lane for weeks and Spurs are strongly tipped to make an approach for him. His style of play suits Spurs down to the ground and his move from Southampton would be seen as natural progression for a young, up-and-coming manager of his stature. Whether or not a season and a half in charge of Southampton is enough to show that he can improve a club like Spurs is still not guaranteed, but he is definitely a realistic candidate for the job.
