Spurs Transfer News: 5 Alternative Striker Options To Christian Benteke

1. Roberto Soldado

Valencia hitman Roberto Soldado is one of Tottenham's prime transfer targets this summer as Villas-Boas attempts to add more of a cutting edge to his forward line next season. The 28-year-old enjoyed a successful 2012/13 season in La Liga, scoring 24 times in 35 games, making him Spain's fifth-highest goalscorer last term. Such good form however has earned the Spain international plenty of admirers, one of whom is Liverpool, who are out to hijack the Lilywhite's move. Tottenham have made two offers for Soldado to date. The first, for £17 million, was turned down, while a second to the tune of £20 million was also lodged. However, Liverpool are now understood to be planning on usurping that bid by tabling a £22 million offer, which is bad news for the North Londoners. Spurs may yet have an advantage in the race however in that they at least can offer Soldado Europa League football next season, a competition of which Liverpool shall not be contesting. They also have a better shot at claiming one of the top 4 places next season, which may yet hold sway over Soldado's next career move. Who do you think Tottenham should sign this summer now that Christian Benteke is no longer available? Let us know in the comment section, below.
