Spurs Transfer News: Tottenham Back In Hunt For Joao Moutinho?

The Sun. The midfield enforcer nearly joined Spurs in last summer's transfer window before his move collapsed, and has long been a target of manager Andre Villas-Boas. AVB worked with the star during his days in Portugal and would love to bring him to White Hart Lane as he makes his plans to finally crack the top four next season having yesterday seen his side desperately miss out on Champions League qualification on the final day. Now a big summer clear-out could be planned with Emmanuel Adebayor mentioned as just one of those who could make way for bigger and better signings in the summer months. Villas-Boas is keen to bring in a big name player in order to persuade star man Gareth Bale to remain with the club, and along with Moutinho, has also been chasing Barcelona's David Villa. Spurs have been short on strikers this term but have also lacked a creative midfielder since selling Luka Modric to Real Madrid last summer. Any deal for Moutinho would cost Villas-Boas at least £30 million while newly promoted French side Monaco are also considering a bid.
