Spurs Transfers: 10 Linked Players Tottenham Should Avoid

1. Mario Balotelli (AC Milan)

Mario Balotelli is said to be available for just £20 million - a steal for a player of his undoubted quality - as AC Milan look set to allow him to leave and his departure could trigger a transfer scramble amongst the likes of Spurs, Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal. However, Spurs should avoid the Italian international like the plague. Everywhere Balotelli goes, he takes controversy with him. Both his on and off the pitch antics have, in the past, caused all kinds of trouble. From lighting fireworks inside his own house to a series of petulant challenges, the striker simply can't keep himself out of trouble. If anybody is going to garner Balotelli's respect and finally get him to behave, it is going to be a seasoned coaching veteran and 42 year old Mauricio Pochettino probably isn't that man - he simply wouldn't be able to control Balotelli. Balotelli would bring with him a proven ability to score goals in the Premier League - at times he was nothing short of outstanding during his time at Manchester City - but the question of how often he would show that kind of form, and indeed how often he would generally misbehave, completely offsets the positive aspects of his potential signature. So there you have it - ten players with whom Spurs have been linked that the club should avoid trying to sign. Do you agree? Who else have Spurs been linked with that they shouldn't actively pursue?
