Spurs Transfers: 10 Linked Players Tottenham Should Avoid
6. Blerim Džemaili (Napoli)
One of the more obscure and out-there links that Spurs have been attributed with having is to the Macedonian-born Swiss international Blerim Džemaili. Despite playing for a big club and a decent national side, Džemaili is hardly a household name - though some people in the United Kingdom will certainly remember him from a disappointing spell with Bolton Wanderers in the 2007-2008 season. The fact is that he is a central midfielder and not necessarily one who will improve on what Spurs have already got - especially at the age of 28, as he is unlikely to get any better - makes this link very strange. With the likes of Mousa Dembele, Paulinho, Sandro, Etienne Capoue, Nabil Bentaleb, Tom Carrol and Christian Eriksen all capable of playing in different areas of the centre of midfield, another player who can fit in the middle should certainly not be a priority. And, if Spurs insist on signing another centre midfielder, then the player in question should undoubtedly be of a higher quality than Džemaili to justify adding another to the squad.
