Spurs Transfers: 11 Signings Mauricio Pochettino Must Make Immediately
8. Alberto de la Bella
Current Club: Real Sociedad Left back has been an area of real trouble for Spurs this season and it's the area that they most desperately need to improve as a result. After letting Benoit Assou-Ekotto leave on loan to join Harry Redknapp's Queens Park Rangers, only Danny Rose was left in the Spurs squad as a natural left back. Consequently, when Rose has been injured, centre back Jan Vertonghen and right back Kyle Naughton have had to cover for him, causing unbalance across the Spurs back four. Alberto de la Bella is one left back Spurs were reportedly looking at last summer - a summer in which they failed to bring in anyone at left back, despite also looking at the likes of Fabio Coentrao (a man who now seems somewhat more settled at Real Madrid after having signed a new contract) - after the left back had impressed in Real Sociedad's charge to the Champions League in the previous season. Their interest in the uncapped player seems to have cooled, but Spurs' dire need for some depth at left back and Pochettino's familiarity with La Liga could see them go back in for him.
