Spurs Transfers: 5 Alternatives To Chelsea Bound Willian

2. Angel Di Maria

Tottenham could pretty much take their pick of most of Real Madrid's midfield as recompense for selling Gareth Bale this summer, and have been linked with Angel Di Maria, Fabio Coentrao and Luka Modric in part-exchange for the Wales international. Out of those three, the signing of Di Maria would make the most sense seeing as though his position at the Bernabeu is in direct threat of being filled by Bale, which could mean curtains for the Argentine's future in Spain. But that would play into Tottenham's hands, particularly if they are looking for an alternative to Willian. Normally a right-winger, Di Maria is left-footed and can operate on either flank if required. The former Benfica man scored 7 times in 32 La Liga appearances last season and also created 6 assists. Not only could he be a decent replacement for Bale, Di Maria could also do just as good of a job in midfield as Willian, is the same age, and available for a fraction of the Brazilian's price-tag.
