Spurs Transfers: 5 Flops Who Must Be Sold In January

2. Jermain Defoe

One of the main reasons for Tottenham's aforementioned lack of potency in front of goal is their lack of a truly world-class striker of the Sergio Aguero and Luis Suarez ilk. Roberto Soldado has failed to live up to his form from last season that saw him finish as the fifth-highest goalscorer in La Liga and Jermain Defoe has had his day. At 31, the England international is one of the first names that springs to mind when you think of disposable Tottenham players, as Spurs's front-line is in such obvious need of an overhaul. Defoe has shown his worth to the side in recent months, becoming the Lilywhite's leading European goalscorer in early November. Domestically though it's been a different story, making just three full appearances and failing to find the net in 11 outings. It's time to bring in fresh blood to lead the line up front and for Defoe to make way.
