Spurs Transfers: 5 Reasons Why Gareth Bale Should Be Sold This Summer

4. Now Is The Right Time To Sell

With Real Madrid prepared to fork out vast swathes of cash on Gareth Bale, clearly, now is the right time to sell. Bale is playing the best football of his career at present, has just enjoyed his most prolific season in front of goal, and is commanding a deliriously high market value. But an injury or a poor season in 2013/14 could ruin all that. Let's face it, Bale is injury prone. In 2009 he had to undergo knee surgery that ruled him out of action for two months while a foot injury also hampered Bale's development in the early stages of his career, keeping him sidelined for a large part of his first two years at White Hart Lane. Should any of those old injuries resurface next season, leaving Bale on the bench for lengthy periods, there's absolutely no way Spurs could get away with demanding £100 million. Then there's the issue of him having a comparatively poor season in 2013/14 should he stay at White Hart Lane. For how do you better a season that sees you top the scoring charts for your club and win everything there is to win at the PFA Awards? Should Bale fail to achieve either of these two things next season, his market value could easily depreciate, and clearly now would seem the best time to sell.
