Spurs Transfers: 5 Replacements For Christian Eriksen

3. Michu

Michu's current season has been as disappointing as Tottenham's, but there is still no doubting his ability €“ as he proved in his first Premier League season. The Spaniard arrived at Swansea as a relative unknown from Rayo Vallecano, but spent some of the season at the top of the scoring charts. He ended the season with 18 goals and fifth in the scoring table. His form earned him a Spanish cap €“ an accolade that doesn't get handed out without good reason these days €“ and while he might not come to Spurs and score 20+ goals himself, he is certainly capable of matching Eriksen's goal record and could provide that same link between midfield and strikers, albeit in a slightly more advanced role than the Dane. Spurs newest striker Roberto Soldado has suffered from the fact that he hasn't had a player like Michu to play alongside. Michu can play in the hole, just behind the striker, which would enable Soldado's runs to actually mean something. The fact that they are both Spanish is also a bonus, as communication would be easy for the pairing (and Swansea's style being similar to the classic Spurs we expect to see is also quite convenient for Michu). Swansea are struggling at the bottom end of the table this season and have got rid of Michael Laudrup €“ the man who got the best out of Michu €“ so it could be the ideal time for him to move on.
