Spurs Transfers: Klinsmann Instrumental In Yedlin Move

Former Spurs striker and Current USA boss talked up his former club.

Newly acquired Tottenham Hotspur signing DeAndre Yedlin has spoken out about how former Spurs player - and his current national team coach - Jurgen Klinsmann talked the club up ahead of his potential move. In an interview with his new club's official website, Yedlin had this to say about Klinsmann's influence in his decision to sign on at White Hart Lane:
I talked to him a lot about this move and he really supports it. I know he has a lot of trust in me and I have a lot of trust in him. He has done a great job with the U.S. team and me personally.
He then went on to express his admiration for Klinsmann, emphasising exactly why he took the former German international's advice, by saying the following regarding his leadership at this summer's World Cup:
Jurgen did a great job with our team, especially the younger players. He made us feel welcome and made us feel like we belong there, giving us the sort of confidence we need to perform at that kind of level. It was a great experience. I was playing against some of the best players in the world, just like I want to do in the Premier League, so it was a great preparation for this. I got to go up against Eden Hazard, which was a pretty big test, so it was amazing.
Klinsmann, who had two spells at Spurs between 1994 and 1998, scoring 29 Premier League goals in those spells, congratulated the young right back on Twitter after the move was confirmed.
Are you pleased that Klinsmann helped to make this move possible? Should Spurs fans be excited if a club legend like the former German international was keen to see the move happen? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below. And please feel free to follow me on Twitter!
