Sir John Hall's takeover of the club in 1992 and his expertise in property development saw St James' Park grow very, very fast.

First, the Leazes End (at the far end of this image) rose from the ground. Hall named the stand after himself and it was opened for United's debut in the Premiership in 1993. Substantial modifications to the Milburn Stand also took place.

A new pitch, drainage system and floodlighting was installed as well as the construction of the Gallowgate Stand. All four corners were filled in at the end of 1994 which produced a marvellous all seater stadium with capacity of around 37,000.
