Sunderland 0-2 Hull: Player Ratings

The Black Cats suffered their first defeat in three league games at the hands of Steve Bruce's Hull City side at the Stadium of Light this afternoon. The game was full of incidents, with the first coming as the managers were still taking their seats. Sunderland manager Gus Poyet must have been cursing his luck as he saw Wes Brown red carded within the opening minutes for an awful last ditch challenge on Shane Long, which left referee Mike Jones with little choice but to flourish the red. The red card meant Sunderland had to throw all their pre match plans out of the window and in his post match press conference Poyet concluded that the decision had turned the game "upside down". Hull didn't let the opportunity of playing nearly 90 minutes against ten men slip through their grasp and went on to score goals through the excellent Shane Long and Nikica Jelavic. Bruce must have been delighted with his side's efforts, indeed his team had only scored once in the League in 2014 prior to today's game. Read on to see our player ratings and man of the match from today's game at the Stadium of Light.
