Sunderland Transfers: 5 Replacements For Simon Mignolet

3. Fraser Forster

forster The Celtic keeper is another rumoured target for Paolo Di Canio this summer and the Hoops star could be set for a return to the North East - except to Sunderland rather than Newcastle, where he spent six years of his career between 2006 and 2012. The 25-year old failed to establish himself at St James' Park however, failing to make a single appearance for the Magpies and finding himself loaned out on five separate occasions to Stockport, Bristol, Norwich and then twice to Celtic where his stay was made permanent last year. Since then his stock has risen significantly and he won the SPL with the Scottish side while on loan and again in his full debut season. A large cash offer could be enough to pry him away from Celtic Park less than 12 months after first joining however and there are fears that in order to have a chance of making the World Cup squad for Brazil in 2014 the 25-year-old Geordie will have to move back down south to give his England aspirations the biggest chance possible. That could play straight into Sunderland's hands and at the perfect time, too, now that a vacancy has opened at the Stadium of Light.
