Sunderland Transfers: 5 Signings Black Cats Still Need To Make

4. Micah Richards

A move for Michah Richards would be ideal for not only Sunderland AFC but also for the English defender who can play either as right-back or as a centre half, as his options look to be thinning out before the window slams shut. Manuel Pellegrini has declared that he will not feature in his plans this season and with his contract only having one year left, a move away from the Champions, and specifically to Sunderland would be a perfect match. The 26-year old would slot straight into the team and he could re-build his career, almost similar to Jack Rodwell, who moved from Manchester City and has already featured in Sunderland's opening game this season. Richards - who would be on a bumper contract at Man City - needs to make a decision and inevitably some compromise is going to be necessary. Is cash more important to his career or does he want to fight in a developing team and try and regain the attention of Roy Hodgson by showing what he is capable of in defence? Rodwell was persuaded by Poyet's future plans so this move may not be as unlikely as first thought€
