One look at this score line brings Martin Tyler’s screaming “Jiiiiiiiiiiii” right back.

The result was utterly stunning and potentially as ‘smash and grab’ as you’ll ever see. Manchester City were at their dominant best and saw a succession of chances turned away by Simon Mignolet and the woodwork.

The Sunderland players truly put their heart and soul into the match, with Lee Cattermole emerging with significant credit for the way he persistently thwarted City’s advances.

Yet another City attack looked to have come to nothing, however, the blues hadn’t factored in the possibility of a late Sunderland counter attack.

The unlikely scorer, Ji, made his way down the left hand side with only five seconds remaining, slipped it to Sessegnon, who duly put Ji in on goal. The rest is history.
