Sunderland’s 10 Greatest Premier League Loan Signings

6. Ki Sung Yeung

It’s come as little surprise to see Ki excel at Swansea this season. The Korean midfield maestro was amongst the best passers of a ball to ever play for Sunderland — a fact reflected in his impressive stats last season.

Ki also played a big role in earning Sunderland their first place in a cup final since 1992, with his late winner against Chelsea and successful penalty in a shootout against Man United, crucial in the cup run.

The only downside? He did a celebration in front of the Sunderland fans indicating he was staying at Safc, only to do the exact same celebration on his first game back at Swansea. Hey ho. He’s not the first loan player to return to his parent club, and certainly won’t be the last. It was a bit annoying though.
