The Most Expensive World Footballer XI Of All Time

6. Centre Midfield: Paul Pogba - £89 Million

From 2009-2012, Paul Pogba rose through the ranks of Manchester United's youth academy, making seven first team appearances before heading to Italian giants Juventus. Just four years after leaving Old Trafford for the Allianz Stadium, the Red Devils signed the Frenchman back for a cool £89 million.

During his time at Juventus, Pogba won an incredible eight major trophies, including the Serie A title every single season he was there. Since moving back to Manchester however, the trophies have dried up, winning just two in the red of United, both back in 2017.

Pogba's second stint in Manchester has not gone as planned, and the midfielder has been met with mixed responses from fans and pundits alike. The main criticism is that he has not lived up to the price tag that made him the most expensive player in the world at the time. While this is slightly unfair as Pogba did not set his own transfer fee, it is more than fair for United to expect more from him.

While his performances picked up last season, scoring a career high 13 goals, the fact that he was picked as the only player outside Liverpool or Man City to make the PFA Team of the Season is hard to believe.
