The NBA Season 2015-2016: 10 Reasons To Be Excited

4. Spurs Gonna Spur

The San Antonio Spurs are so consistently good that it almost feels boring. They've had the same star player, Tim Duncan, for 18 years and in that time they've never missed the playoffs. Their head coach, Gregg Popovich, is widely considered to be the best coach in the league and has been a mentor for countless other coaches and training staff across the NBA. They hold the record for most consecutive 50+ win seasons (and that's just one of their crazy stats). Their continued dominance is such that their first round exit from last year's Western Conference playoffs was a genuine shock. And yet, this offseason, it seems like they might have got even better. While the Spurs have traditionally focused on developing young players (such as the brilliant Kawhi Leonard) rather than signing big name free agents, they have made an exception in the poaching of former Portland star LaMarcus Aldridge. They added further depth with respected veteran David West, who became the newest in the long history of players taking pay cuts to sign with San Antonio. Most wonderfully of all, Tim Duncan, one of the greatest players of his generation, is playing at least one more season at age 39. If this is indeed The Big Fundamental's last ride, it looks set to be a beautiful one.
