Tottenham 1-1 Espanyol: 5 Key Things We Learned

1. The New Signings Look Great

Roberto Soldado Perhaps the best news to emerge from yesterday's match was the fact that the new signings looked settled and impressive. Nacer Chadli, at times, looked like he lacked composure and seemed to take one too many touches too often, which resulted in dispossession, but he showed signs of great skill and the potential for him to be a great Spurs player was clear to see. Paulinho was all-action, never stopping running, getting stuck in to the opposition and looking like a threat going forward. Indeed he had a headed goal disallowed for offside - quite harshly after seeing replays - showing early signs of being an additional goal threat for Spurs. But it was the performance of Spanish international superstar striker Roberto Soldado that really made people stand up and take notice. The striker looked hungry and lively, provided Spurs with the target man they need, made impressive runs, looked strong on the ball and topped his day off by converting the penalty to score Tottenham's only goal of the game. All in all, things look positive for Spurs - with or without Gareth Bale - and it would appear like more signings are on the way. What did you learn from Tottenham's last pre-season friendly?
