4. Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa
Position: Defender Club: Montpellier Probable Value: £9m With Ryan Nelson now at QPR and Ledley King finally expected to retire (some four years after the doctors told him to), or at least start to wind down his playing days and move into a coaching role, Spurs need to rebuild the centre of their defence, especially with concerns over Michael Dawson and Younes Kaboul, and the advancing years of William Gallas. Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa of Montpellier would seem a viable option, with the player looking to leave his current club and Montpellier willing to listen to offers in the right region. Recent reports saw the club captain linked with a move to Germany, but any deal appears far from done, and Spurs could steal a march on their Premier League rivals looking for defensive reinforcement by paying close to £10m for the 23 year old. He will make a step up to one of Europe's biggest clubs soon enough, he just needs the opportunity.
