UFC and Beyond: 5 Upcoming Fights You Must See

5. Jon Jones Vs Vitor Belfort €“ UFC 152, 22nd September 2012

Whether the purists are willing to admit it or not the UFC does its biggest numbers when it gets all €œpro-wrestling€. Babyfaces, heels, storylines, feuds, swerves, that€™s when the company really brings in the money. Jon €œBones€ Jones€™ Light-Heavyweight Title defence against Vitor Belfort at UFC 152 has all that and more. Jon Jones is to the UFC what John Cena is to the WWE. He walks and talks and fights like a babyface, yet haters continue to hate, and in their own twisted way they continue to care. Jones was set to face number-one contender Dan Henderson at UFC 151 this weekend but when the challenger pulled out of the fight due to injury the bout was cancelled. Jones was then offered a replacement challenger in testosterone-fuelled Middleweight Chael Sonnen. Taking on board advise from his trainer Greg Jackson, Jones turned the fight down. The UFC€™s reaction was almost unfathomable. They cancelled the entire card and buried the most important fighter in their whole company as publically as they possibly could. Whether you believe Jones €“ and trainer Greg Jackson €“ were made scapegoats to deflect the problems that exist within the current UFC structure, or you think the Light-Heavyweight Champion is the Devil incarnate, you simply have to tune in to this Pay Per View main event. Can fan-favourite Vitor Belfort even come close to dethroning the Champ? Probably not, but the atmosphere in a packed out Air Canada Centre should make for must see sporting entertainment.
