3. Laura Robson
The first female on the list is Britains rising star Laura Robson. This year Laura became the first British women in many years to reach the second week of Wimbledon, giving home fans a second hero to cheer for. Her eventual 4th round finish was her best ever Wimbledon result. Though she isnt yet at her peak, the 19 year old has a high ranking of 32nd for her age. For a player not yet at their physical prime she shows tremendous power when hitting the ball as well as brilliant poise in high pressure situations. Having gained confidence and rankings since last years US open, Robson has every chance of equalling her 2012 4th round finish, or even bettering it. However, a recent wrist injury has seen her pulling out of the Rogers cup. Though she should recover this injury could damage her form going into the Slam. Robson has proven that in the top tournaments she can beat the best; already overcoming such top flight players as Agnieszka Radwanska, Venus Williams and Maria Kirilenko so far in 2013. With some luck she could cause similar upsets in the US open.
