After any such move looked dead in the water only an hour or two ago, Watford have moved to sign Ismaila Sarr from Rennes.

In typical modern-day football fashion, the Hornets released a swanky little announcement video to officially confirm the transfer.

21-year-old winger Sarr joins for a club record fee that’s reported to be in the region of £30 million. With 18 goals in 77 games for Rennes, the skillful forward player has signed a five-year contract with Javi Gracia’s side.

The Senegal international has been predominantly used on either wing in his burgeoning career so far, although he has also played in a more central attacking role at times, too. Having been at Rennes for the past two seasons, prior to that the player spent his first professional year at FC Metz.

This latest signing follows in the footsteps of West Brom’s Craig Dawson, Fluminense’s Joao Pedro, Manchester City’s Tom Dele-Bashiru, Leeds’ Sam Dalby and the free transfer move of former Arsenal and Manchester United forward Danny Welbeck as new additions to the Vicarage Road outfit.

Ismaila Sarr has been handed the number 23 shirt ahead of Watford starting their 2019/20 Premier League campaign at home against Brighton on Saturday.
