West Brom Transfer News: Pulis Plots Move For In Demand Striker
The Baggies are targeting QPR frontman Charlie Austin.
West Brom are planning a move for Charlie Austin, according to the Telegraph. As the subject of interest from several Premier League clubs the striker seems destined to leave the London club, but QPR are thought to be holding out for £15 million - although the Baggies think they can get the player for less. Pulis is keen to bring the 25-year-old to the Hawthorns having missed out on Demba Ba who completed a move to Shanghai Shenhua this week. Austin, who was recently called up to the England squad, recently expressed concerns that a high price-tag would cause problems for interested clubs as he eyes a new Premier League destination. With just one year left on Austin's contract QPR's asking price might seem steep, although the striker would be a good acquisition for Tony Pulis as he rethinks his team's attacking options. Newcastle, West Ham and even Chelsea have been linked with the forward alongside West Brom after Austin's first season in the Premier League saw a tally of 18 goals. If QPR were to accept the Baggies' rumoured bid of £10 million it would match West Brom's record transfer fee, after the same figure was spent on Brown Ideye last season.
