West Brom Transfers: 5 Replacements For Retiring Nicolas Anelka

1. Jermain Defoe

Along with Adebayor, Tottenham are also looking to get shut of Jermain Defoe this summer. Spurs boss Villas-Boas is overhauling his forward line and wants Roma's Erik Lamela to join new acquisition Roberto Soldado up front this season, which, along with Adebayor, could mean significantly-less playing time for Defoe, with the 30-year-old having had to make do with substitute appearances for the Lilywhites in each of the first two league game of the season. The former West Ham man has been linked with a move to Queens Park Rangers this summer and a reunion with Harry Redknapp in the Championship, but West Brom could hand the England international a Premier League lifeline by making a bid this summer. Defoe was still able to net 15 goals last season in spite of struggling with an injury for the second half of the campaign, and could do a job for West Brom, while he'd likely prefer to join the Baggies over QPR as dropping down a division could hurt his World Cup chances next summer.
