I think most managers recognize that buying foreign players from foreign leagues in January represents a significant risk, because the fact they often need a settling in period. The striker is just 21 years old currently, but certainly has bags of ability, despite lacking the experience. That ability has led to him scoring 16 goals this season with 3.3 shots per match. However, perhaps the most interesting thing about Ings is his ability to play in different positions. So many Premier League teams are using just the one striker these days, and when Allardyce has a fit squad, that player is highly likely to be Andy Carroll. Nevertheless, Ings has the ability to play in behind as an attacking midfielder. In fact, 12 of the 16 goals that he has scored this season have come from that very position.
