West Ham vs Chelsea: Player Ratings

Mark Noble: Cleared off the line from Cahill in the second half. Supposed to be a solid part of the Hammers wall to stop Chelsea, but the flooding midfield tactic utterly failed. Avoided the customary booking for once though. 5/10. Stewart Downing: Put in the occasional ball, but no takers in the middle for winger to find. You wonder why Big Sam isn't bold enough to play both him and Matt Jarvis from the start. 5/10.

Jack Collison: Subbed after struggling to impose himself in the first half. 4/10. Kevin Nolan: Hammers skipper put himself about as expected, but without partner in crime Andy Carroll his threat is much reduced. Subbed with 15 minutes left. 5/10. Ravel Morrison: Maverick talent made headlines with audacious back-heeled finish in England Under-21 training. What Allardyce would have given for some of that flair in the Premier League here. Morrison tried to impose himself here and at one stage got away from two defenders, but Cahill was one too many to take on. Best of a bad West Ham bunch. 5.5/10. Joe Cole: Subbed in first half after another anonymous showing. Fallen so far since that terrible knee injury at Chelsea. Sad sight to see. 3/10. Subs: Mohamed Diame: Got 50 minutes, but ended up playing from the right flank. Must be desperate to play in favoured central midfield berth. Still feel he would make a fine addition to Arsenal competing with Flamini and Arteta for a holding spot. 5/10. Modibo Maiga: Spurned a guilt edge chance from Demel's deflected cross. Pathetic showing from the so-called Malian striker. 3.5/10. Matt Jarvis: Only came on for 15 minutes. Rating N/A.
