Where Are They Now: Jürgen Klopp's First Liverpool XI

2. Nathaniel Clyne

There was a time, not too long ago, when Nathaniel Clyne was one of the most exciting, highly rated right backs in English football. Vying for the starting job for England with Kyle Walker, Clyne enjoyed a good few years with Liverpool.

Brought over from Southampton, the right back's Liverpool career was hampered by injuries. This, and the emergence of Trent Alexander-Arnold as one of the Premier League's elite young players saw to the unceremonious end of Clyne's Anfield career.

Throughout the 2018-19 season, Clyne was loaned out to Bournemouth, playing 15 times despite Cardiff City manager Neil Warnock being under the impression his former player at Crystal Palace was heading for a reunion with him in Wales.

After returning to Anfield for a season, injuries and Alexander-Arnold once again kept Clyne out of the squad, with the Englishman failing to make a single appearance. Now a free agent after his contract with the Reds was allowed to expire, if someone can look past the injuries, it will surely be worth a gamble on signing him. He is still the right side of 30 after all.
