Where Are They Now: Jürgen Klopp's First Liverpool XI

9. James Milner

It is no exaggeration to say that Liverpool's signing of James Milner in 2014 is one of the greatest free transfers in recent Premier League history. After playing over 200 games for Man City, and helping the team win two Premier League titles, the FA Cup, League Cup, and Community Shield in just five years, the Citizens let Milner's contract expire.

Despite being only 34 years old, it feels like Milner has been around forever, having made his Premier League debut for Leeds United at just 16 years old. The experience, professionalism, leadership, and flexibility on the pitch have made Milner one of Klopp's greatest assets during his time at Liverpool, and it's hard to see him leaving any time soon.

As the vice captain behind Jordan Henderson, the midfielder has worked tirelessly for his club, never giving anything less than 100%. It's clear just from watching him play, and how he handles himself around the younger players that Milner will likely make a great coach and manager in the future.

He may not be the most talented member of the squad, and he certainly won't be starting every game moving forward, but behind the likes of Henderson, van Dijk, and Alisson, Milner is one of the most important players at the club.
