Where Are They Now: Jürgen Klopp's First Liverpool XI

7. Lucas Leiva

When Jürgen Klopp first arrived at Anfield, midfielder Lucas Leiva had already been a Red for eight years, having joined way back in 2007. Sitting in front of the back four for much of his time there, Lucas gave Liverpool his best years, making 247 Premier League appearances, more than any other Brazilian in league history.

Though his best days in a red shirt came closer to the start of his time with the club, Lucas still offered plenty to the team, and more than a little experience. Unfortunately, he was simply never longed for a successful playing career under Klopp, particularly after the signing of Georginio Wijnaldum in 2016.

In 2017, after ten years, the Brazilian moved to Lazio for a fee of £5 million, leaving Liverpool with his head held high, and no supporters having a bad word to say about him.

His first season in Italy saw him play in 50 games across all competitions, earning himself the player of the year award. In the two seasons since, Lucas has played 66 more times for his club, and has become a favourite of the Lazio fan base in much the same way he did with the Kop.
