Wolves vs Manchester City - Match Preview
A repeat of Tuesday night's Carling Cup encounter as Wolves take on Manchester City.
This fixture was held on Tuesday night in the Carling Cup and it was held at Molineux, too, and on the night Manchester City came out on top thrashing their opponents 5-2. Now they face each other again, this time in the Premier League. Manchester City head into this clash with Wolves in very good form indeed. The Blue half of Manchester summit the top of the league table at the moment, they are in the quarter-finals of the Carling Cup and come off a 6-1 beating over arch rivals Manchester United. Not to forget their two forwards, Edin Dzeko and Sergio Aguero are firing on all cylinders with having got 8 and 9 goals already respectively. Roberto Mancini's men have a five point gap on Man Utd and will be hoping they can increase that lead with a victory over their Midlands opponents today on home turf. For Wolves, well they should know City's dangers by now having faced them in midweek, and even that team was rather weak by their standards. Mick MCarthy is a man under pressure having not won in his last six Premier League matches. His side went into their game with Swansea last Saturday with five straight losses under their belts, and it could've been six if it wasn't for Jamie O'Hara very late strike to save the Wolves a draw at the death. Man City will be the favourtites heading into this one, especially as they are at home, but Wolves do have some threatening players that can turn games themselves, notably Kevin Doyle, scorer of Wolves's first goal in their fightback against the Swans last weekend, and Matt Jarvis, who, with his pace, can roast nearly any full-back in the division, including the powerhouse Micah Richards.
