5 Things We Learned From Liverpool Vs. Brisbane Roar

4. They Must Sign Christian Benteke

Liverpool are widely expected to sign Christian Benteke after agreeing to pay the £32 million buy out clause in his contract. Today, Brendan Rodgers started with Divock Origi up front with Danny Ings and Adam Lallana either side of him. The 20-year-old who had a disappointing loan spell at Lille last season is still very raw and although showing flashes of talent he certainly isn't the player to drag Liverpool into the top four. Daniel Sturridge's injury problems will keep him out until the end of October and new signing Roberto Firmino is better suited to playing as an inside forward. The Aston Villa frontman was unplayable towards the end of last season and would give the Reds lethal firepower up front. This, combined with exquisite creativity from Philippe Coutinho, Firmino and Lallana behind Benteke would give Brendan Rodgers endless attacking options and one of the best front-lines in the league.
