One MIND-BLOWING Secret From Every WWE Royal Rumble
2025 - A TNA Legend Was “So Close” To Entering
A few times, WWE didn’t need to fly anybody in to cast an old feller as a surprise entrant; as an example, in 2021, the Hurricane made his second appearance as a ‘Legend’. This was cheap and easy to facilitate, since Gregory Helms was working as a producer. He was already there; he just needed to bring his gear to the show.
On that basis, Joseph ‘Abyss’ Park could very feasibly enter the Royal Rumble; he too is currently employed as a producer. Longtime fans would love to see Abyss get his “moment” in a WWE ring. Park did play the “statistician” of AJ Styles, in a cute “if you know, you know” cameo, but it hardly counts.
They aren’t alone.
As recently revealed on the What Do You Want To Talk About? podcast, Cody Rhodes attempts to force the issue on an annual basis. Kevin Owens supports him on this crusade, and without specifying when this happened, said “it came so close one year”. As wonderful as the idea sounds, would Abyss get the pop he deserves for doing great work under the mainstream radar in the 2000s?
This is a new WWE audience, and it’s hard to pinpoint what they’re into or are even aware of. Jordynne Grace got a pop at the Royal Rumble, but, of all fans, the post-WrestleMania crowd barely seemed to recognise Rusev this year.
There’s another reason why it’s very unlikely to happen; as Owens himself said, Park has lost too much weight, and shambles around the gorilla position with the retired wrestler’s walk.
