10 Best Golf Courses In The World
3. Merion

When Merion hosted major events up until 1981, it was considered too short to continue hosting high-profile tournaments, but the amendments to the course has seen it be classed as one of the best in the world.
During the early 2000s, it had hosted the Amateur Championships and the Walker Cup, but it wasn't until the 2013 US Open when a worldwide audience got to see the improvements in full.
That particular tournament rewarded consistency, with Justin Rose recording four rounds between 69 and 71, but the winning score would be one-over-par, with many players praising the high-density rough that featured on most holes and using it as a reason for the high scores.
The club itself also retains many traditional values. Slow played is frowned upon and neither yardage markers or golf buggies are used.
