10 Darkest Days In Alan Pardew's Newcastle United Career

5. Head-Butting David Meyler

Date: 1st March 2014 If there's one thing that Alan Pardew knows well it's controversy. Over the course of his relatively short managerial career he has spectacularly fallen out with fellow managers (Pardew and Pellegrini), his own players (Ben Arfa and Coloccini at least) and used his position as a pundit to say one player had "absolutely raped" another one. The crowning achievement of those controversies came last season in the midst of the second half of the season capitulation when Pardew decided to go toe-to-toe to Hull player David Meyler. The pair "disagreed" when Meyler shoved Pardew out of the way to take a throw-in, and Pardew's response was to "push him away" with his head. Or in other words, he head-butted him.
