10 Man Utd Players Who Started With A Bang

1. Wayne Rooney

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P2kW1RrRdIo Think of the pressure. Having announced himself to the entire world via a series of stellar displays at Euro 2004, he subsequently had both Newcastle and Manchester United enter a multi-million pound bidding war for his services, and some punters tipping him to be the €˜White Pele€™. It would be enough to make some 18 year olds wilt and crease under the weight of expectation. Wayne Rooney was no ordinary teenager, however. Having arrived at Old Trafford for £25.6 million in August 2004, becoming the most ever expensive teenager in the process, Rooney had to wait four weeks to make his debut but took his chance with aplomb. Lining up against Turkish side Fenerbahce in his ever Champions League night, the England international subsequently lit up the stadium, scoring a hat-trick to make Rooney the youngest player ever to do so in the competition.
€œIt was an outstanding debut. It is something you dream of as a manager for a player to play in this way and to score in this way in his first game. If he does that, it makes you very happy and you€™re a very lucky manager. Rooney is still very young and maybe he will become the player of the century. He is at the beginning now though.€ - Fenerbahce manager, Christoph Daum.
It was a thrilling start to his Manchester United career, and answered a few critics who questioned the size of the transfer fee. He went on to score 17 goals in his first season and was accredited with the PFA Young Player of the Year Award. So that's a wrap - what do you think?
