10 Memorable Man United Goals Scored By Ordinary Players

7. Ashley Young vs Arsenal, August 2011

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CUUQ2XExh-I Signed as a £16.5 million blockbuster transfer from Aston Villa three years ago, one might wonder what on earth the English winger is still doing at Manchester United, particularly after the ruthless cull Louis van Gaal just carried out. Failing to deliver expectations time and time again over the last number of years, and serving upon a platter of frustrations, dives and disappointment, Young has simply flattered to deceive during his time at Old Trafford. Very much a confidence player, it's evident that his has been knocked and bruised by the legions of critics he has collected throughout his stint, but it's no surprise that his purple patch at Man United came just after he signed for the club. He was on top of the world when Arsenal arrived at Old Trafford in August 2011. They would be torn asunder, as he continued his perfect start to his Old Trafford career. Both goals scored that day were practically identical, as he cut inside from the left flank and bent two right-footed shots into the top corner. Six other goals were picked out of Wojciech Szczesny's net that day, as Man United ran riot, winning 8-2, but it was the new boy who deservedly soaked up the plaudits. It's just a shame for his own sake how he failed to build on that fantastic start, as he now looks a shadow of that dangerous player who could cut inside and unleash a venomous shot into the top corner.
