It's rare to say this about a goalkeeper, but Hugo Lloris is probably Tottenham Hotspur's best player. The French international captain and former Lyon man is an outstanding professional who, in addition to being a formidable shot-stopper with great reflexes, is also an able distributor of the ball and someone who can act as a sweeper when the situation requires it. Lloris belongs in big games and, after Spurs' failure to qualify for the Champions League last season, it was generally felt that he would look to find a club who were in Europes elite competition - and some of his quotes in the media suggested exactly that - but he has recently put pen to paper by signing a new five year deal with the club, much to the delight of the fans. A great team starts at the back and Spurs have one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League. He now has some extra rivalry in Dutchman Michel Vorm to keep him on his toes and maybe even help him up his game - and that would be fantastic for the White Hart Lane club.
