10 Most Legendary Old Firm European Nights

2. Rangers 3-2 Dynamo Moscow (May 1972)

The greatest European night in Rangers history came with this exciting win in the European Cup Winners Cup final. Rangers had twice previously fallen at the final hurdle in the 1960€™s, losing to Fiorentina and Bayern Munich. Having dispatched Bayern in the semi-final, Rangers were determined to finally get their hands on the elusive trophy. The Glasgow greats started like a house of fire at the Nou Camp and raced into a three goal lead courtesy of Colin Stein and a brace from Willie Johnston. Dynamo Moscow pulled two goals back, but they never looked like anything more than a consolation. Captain John Greig lifted the trophy and claimed it was the €œgreatest night of his life apart from his wedding night€. His wife was presumably thrilled.
