10 Most Legendary Old Firm European Nights

8. Rangers 2-0 Bayern Munich (April 1972)

Bayern had defeated Rangers five years earlier in the final of this competition and the Gers were not in any mood to see a repeat. The previous leg had ended 1-1 and the tie was finely poised, but Rangers were out for revenge and they achieved it with aplomb. An insanely talented Bayern team with the likes of Franz Beckenbauer, Paul Breitner and Gerd Muller couldn€™t cope with a Rangers team hell-bent on righting a wrong. William €œSandy€ Jardine gave Rangers the lead in the first minute before Derek Parlane quickly added another. When a team with Gerd Muller up front has 70 minutes to score against you and they can€™t, you know you can defend.
