10 Most Legendary Old Firm European Nights

6. Sporting Lisbon 0-2 Rangers (April 2008)

Jean-Claude Darcheville covered as much ground as anyone ever has in Rangers 2008 UEFA Cup run, but even for him this match was a remarkable display of discipline in the lone forward role. Walter Smith took his side to Lisbon knowing an away goal would put his side in an incredible position, and fielded Darcheville up front on his own in search of it. Lisbon spent an entire evening camped inside Rangers half with an enormous amount of possession but created absolutely nothing. In the 60th minute, the lone striker combined with Steven Davis to drive home from the Northern Irishman€™s cross. As Lisbon threw the kitchen sink at Rangers in search of two goals, Steven Whittaker waltzed through their defence to score an incredible solo goal that took Rangers into the semi-final. The incredible game will be forever remembered for Darcheville€™s incredible endeavour and Rangers€™ fantastic defensive performance.
