The striker returned to Ukraine having never made a first-team appearance for the Magpies, having even reportedly struggled in training opposite Mike Williamson... A player who had netted 17 goals in 25 games for Velez Sarsfield in his native Argentina, as well as six in 22 for Shakhtar, was simply deemed unfit even to make an appearance off the bench for Newcastle - and he was only signed on the say-so of the club captain.
