10 Newcastle Players Who Really Weren't Worth The Hassle

9. Titus Bramble

While it is well documented that Titus Bramble has been fashioned as something of a comedic term in footballing circles over the last decade, what isn't reported as much is the former Ipswich centre-half's rambunctious lifestyle during his youth. Following a costly £6 million move to the Magpies in 2002, Bramble picked up a tonne of detractors following a series of error-strewn performances, voted the Premier League's worst player by a football e-mail newsletter in 2004. Part of a youthfully exuberant and talented, yet laden with traces of narcissism, Newcastle United side during the early 00s, it was often mooted that Bramble and Kieron Dyer were ring-leaders of a 'party-boy' clique festering within the club. In 2003, the 22 year old centre-half was arrested and detained by police following an alleged late-night attack at a London hotel. Team-mates Dyer and Jermaine Jenas were also questioned, leading to a tabloid scandal, which threatened to besmirch the good name of the club. The trio were eventually cleared of all charges, but for Bramble, it was not to be his first brush with the law.
