Another player marginalised by Carver in recent weeks, Sammy Ameobi has pace to burn and can be a tricky customer but his application leaves a lot to be desired. He has played a total of just 45 minutes in the last four matches and it is clear his manager does not trust him to hold on to the ball and be brave while the Magpies face the impending threat of relegation. A player who could offer a spark and add pace to the side, it appears as though his timidity on the pitch may cost him game-time during the run in.
