Costing upwards of £10 million last summer, Remy Cabella was supposed to be the player who would spark the Magpies into life and really make them tick in attack. Yet, for a variety of reasons - including the fact he has largely been played out of position on the wing far too often - it simply hasn't happened for Cabella, and he has contributed just one goal and three assists all season. Carver stuck with him for five straight matches before dropping the Frenchman for the trip to Leicester, when the Magpies head coach did not turn to Cabella at any point. Cabella has regularly been guilty of going to ground too easily this campaign - and it is questionable whether he has the stomach for a Premier League relegation fight.
