If Spurs are looking to bolster their defence - especially with the likes of Vlad Chiriches and even Jan Vertonghen touted as potentially leaving the club in January - they could do a lot worse than making a move for a man they have been linked with in recent weeks. Celtic's Virgil van Dijk may well only be plying his trade in the Scottish Premier League but, at 23 years old, he has already received a call up to the Dutch national team (albeit without yet winning a cap), such has been the impression he has made in his time in Glasgow. The former Groningen man has spent a year and a half in Scotland's second city and he is rightly attracting the attention of bigger clubs - including Spurs and their arch-rivals Arsenal - but he wouldn't be overly expensive and would be well worth a punt.
