10 Players You Totally Forgot Played For Newcastle United

2. Francesco Coco

Most official records of Newcastle United's full historical player roster would fail to mention the fact that Inter Milan defender Francesco Coco actually played for the club, but they would be wrong to snub the Italian entirely. In August 2005, the Italian was identified by Graeme Souness as a solution to Newcastle's defensive frailties at full-back, and came to the club with the intention of signing a one year loan deal. He even played in a pre-season friendly win over Yeading - that's how close the deal got, and how he qualifies for this list - before the deal collapsed over personal terms according to the club's statement:
"We have been unable to agree to the final conditions of the player's loan move and he will be returning to Milan shortly."
Only the small number of fans who went to the Yeading game will remember seeing him play.
