10 Problems Only Newcastle United Fans Will Understand
5. Having A Manager With Anger Management Issues
Alan Pardews tenure at Newcastle has never been dull: from guiding Newcastle to the quarter finals of the Europa League to headbutting the opposition, the spotlight is never far from the Newcastle gaffer. The controversy surrounding Pardew is nothing new either; while at West Ham United he had 2 separate incidents involving Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger. One involved a exchange of words with Pardew criticising Wenger's inability to field a domestic player in Arsenal's Champion's League victory over Real Madrid. Wenger replied by accusing Pardew of being Xenophobic, a remark Pardew laughed off with his Swedish wife. He was also accused of purposely winding up Arsene Wenger, which led to the two being separated by the fourth official. Wenger was later given a fine by the FA for the incident, while Pardew was cleared of all charges. In Newcastle's opening game of the 2012/13 season Pardew was sent to the stands for pushing a linesman when he felt a decision against Newcastle was unfair. He later apologised, admitting his behavior was "ridiculous". Finally, Pardew's most costly outburst was in March 2014 at the K.C stadium when he headbutted Hull midfielder David Meyler costing him £160,000 in fines from Newcastle United and the Football Association.
